CALCEM® LIME PAINT can be custom colored by the addition of various lime-proof pigments. The lime proof palette includes many pigments, some known since the beginning of time and others more recent but with a long standing reputation as reliable color pigments. UV rays fade some colors more than others. The best option for exterior walls are iron oxide pigments which come in a variety of tonalities and provide excellent lightfastness. Once the paint is applied, a natural process induced by carbon dioxide in the air will gradually change the character, causing it to acquire a beautiful, luminescent appearance. With time, the exterior walls will also develop a soft weathered patina. CALCEM® LIME PAINT is a two-part material, Part ‘A’ and Part ‘B’. CALCEM® can provide the Part A already colored.
Ca’Ziff
The first photo from 1990 represents a south east facing wall on Biscayne Bay, Miami. The second photo is the same wall about five years later. The yellow oxide content of the paint with time tends to intensify, apart from that, the progressive carbonization of the calcium and magnesium caused by the carbon dioxide in the air also tends to intensify the appearance making it more translucent.
Pompei
Representation of fresco paintings (lime-based) executed about 2000 years ago in Pompei. Apart from that, an interesting observation about the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, painted about 500 years ago, the paint becomes more translucent and lively than what was originally made. Probably the artist intended to work it that way creating something alive.
